The biggest event of the year, the 2012 Pokémon World Championships, took place on August 10-12, 2012, as 40 qualified players competed in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii! This tournament used a ruleset that allowed players to use only Pokémon available in the National Pokédex. Players battled through 6 Swiss Rounds where the top 8 players advanced to a single-elimination bracket to determine the winner!
For the first time ever, the World Championships was streamed by GameSpot. Check out this video to see the event's stream and this playlist for battle videos gathered by Nugget Bridge.
