Pokémon Announces the World Championships Friendly Online Competition

It was recently announced that the next online Battle Spot competition will be a VGC 2019 tournament. As stated on the official website, the goal of this competition is to give players a very early chance to catch a glimpse of what the format will look like going into the 2019 World Championships. While this tournament does not offer Championship Points for performing well, what it does offer is the first official chance to play the VGC 2019 Ultra Series format.

Registration for this event will take place from Thursday, September 6, 2018 (00:00 UTC), through Thursday, September 13, 2018 (23:59 UTC) and the actual event goes from Friday, September 14 (00:00 UTC), through Sunday, September 16, 2018 (23:59 UTC). All players will earn 50 Battle Points for competing in at least 1 battle.

To even register, players will need a Pokémon Trainer Club account, a wireless internet connection, and a copy of Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon with a Game Sync ID registered to the Pokémon Global Link (PGL).

Competition Rules
  • This competition uses Double battle
  • Items are usable, but duplicate items are not usable
  • All Pokémon are usable, expect Ash-Greninja and all mythical Pokémon
  • Teams may only contain up to 2 of the following Pokemon: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma
  • All Pokémon must have the black clover symbol
  • At least 4 Pokémon must be in your battle box 
  • All Pokémon will be at level 50 for the duration of each battle
  • Team preview will last for 90 seconds
  • Your Time will be at 7 minutes. If a player runs out of your time, they automatically lose the match
  • Players are given up to 10 battles for each day with 30 matches overall. Matches that aren't completed on each day carries over to the next day. Each day begins at 00:00 UTC
